This blog is all about the public sector and my thoughts and viewpoints as a public servant. It's my way of venting and interpreting things through my reality. So, rather than sit quiet and let it hit the fan, I decided its time to put people and departments on blast. It's my therapy. Its unabashed, unabridged and uncensored. It's all real. Read and find out. You may be enlightened, disgusted, impressed or indifferent. You decide...

Reality

Do you think that people in power gain that power through coersion or persuasion in the workforce?

Personally, I think that a lot of the power found in the public sector is made real by its employees in the workplace. Suck up and let them think that they are great and, alas, they take that worship mentality and turn it into a reality. So, instead of questioning reality and whether or not someone is capable of leading, it may be better to just sit and roll with the punches. After all, its just a job; you are not paid to think out loud like that. That is what management is for.

And who wants to spend 40 hours a week being miserable....

MAKING A CHANGE.....IS IT POSSIBLE OR???

What needs to happen to make a change. To make each manager and supervisor accountable for what they do as well as what they know. What has to happen to effectuate change in the Blog, to turn the Cog in the Blog into some "grease" for the Blog, and effectuate a better run Blog? Does one accept the blog in it's current form and foundation or does one effecutate change and possibly suffer professionally for not accepting the Blog in its current form of mechanical disfunction. As a member of middle management in the Blog I try to effectuate change in the blog and possibly to my detriment. What do I do? keep on with an optimism to changing the Blog or affecting a change in the Blog or become a Cog?

I think that you can only do what you can do within your power. Change happens gradually..even if in just tiny itty bitty baby steps. After a while, someone will listen. Those haters will eventually leave and the masses, the silent masses, who are on your side will applaud and thank you for their fight.

Power is gained and can flourish. Power is gained by knowledge and expertise. In the public sector, power is gained by acceptance as well. You know that. And if you don't, then consider today the day that you free those untapped resources to make a change.

Believe me, friend, you have more power than you think.

Its really all about stifling the resistance and getting buy in. If your staff is behind you, then half the battle is won. Now it's all about convincing those above you to see the light...no matter how dim you think it is.
